NGG Spring Meeting, 29 March 2019, Amsterdam
Time: 13.45-19.00, preceded by AGM/ALV from 12.45-13.45
Location: Bushuis/Oost-Indisch Huis, University of Amsterdam (Kloveniersburgwal 48)
On March 29th, the NGG Spring Meeting will be hosted at the University of Amsterdam. This years’ theme is ‘religion and art’ and we aim to provide a dynamic approach to that theme by organising a ‘walking seminar’, followed by a round table discussion.
During the walking seminar, we will visit a selection of works of art –located in the vicinity of the Bushuis– that are part of the international project “Art stations of the cross: troubled waters”, taking place in Amsterdam during Lent (6 March – 21 April 2019).
During the round table discussion that follows, a panel of specialists will address some thought-provoking statements on the interplay between religion, art and contemporary societal issues. We will finish the NGG Spring Meeting by handing out the Cornelis Tiele MA Thesis Award, for the best MA thesis in Religious Studies written at a Dutch university between 1 September 2017 and 31 August 2018 – followed by drinks.
